Elevate Your Style: Spring Fashion Trends for 2024

While some of us may be preoccupied with Dry January and New Year’s resolutions, the rest of us, on the other hand, with more of a sartorial bent, are looking forward to the top new fashion trends of 2024

While layering has been a lot of fun, the fact that you have to practically dress yourself does not always allow you to be as creative or express yourself as you would like. That’s why for the next few weeks, we’re celebrating early spring, and with it, a strong spring wardrobe. Here are the top spring 2024 fashion trends to watch out for this season.

Masculine-meets-feminine dressing

At the end of last year, it was clear that skirts were taking over from trousers as the go-to for everyday wear. While denim midis ruled supreme for AW23 it looks like the skirt is getting a bit of a feminine makeover for SS24.

Whether you’re going for the ultra mini, the super sheer, or the flowing and elegant look, this skirt will be a part of the overall look that’s going to take the world by storm this spring – Masc / Fem Dressing. What’s important is that these skirts don’t feature a cropped cardigan or a slinky vest as the go-to layering piece.

Instead, you’ll find oversized shirts, men’s sweaters, and oversized blazers. Sometimes, you’ll find all three.

Business casual

If you’re feeling like you’re stuck in a rut with your officewear style right now, jump on one of the hottest trends of spring 2024 a little early. Relaxed tailoring is at the heart of SS24’s workwear aesthetic, and we’re not just talking about a breathable skirt.

This business casual takes things to the next level with oversized suits, cut-off blazers falling to just above the knee, and possibly an all-too-veiled waist. Combine it with a loose-fitting blouse or a slim-fit knit to change up the look.

High-rise trousers

Low-cut tops have been all over the news for a few years now, but it’s time to check out the high-rise again. If you follow the Loewe philosophy, the only thing that matters is the high rise.

High-rise trousers are versatile and can be worn with jeans, sweats, or tailored trousers. They are ideal for office wear, dinner parties, date nights, and days out. Choose a quality, long-lasting belt to step up your style game.

Elevated sportswear

Let’s face it, sportswear isn’t just for athletes anymore. Maybe it’s the post-pandemic ‘lockdown’ aesthetic that’s been creeping back into our daily loungewear, but sportswear has been slowly making its way back into our daily wardrobes – and now more than ever for spring 2024.

The hooded sweatshirt is now super-sized and has replaced the casual day dress, the monochrome zip-up track-top is the perfect layering piece for your favorite denim, and the cropped legging – a bit like the pedal pusher from the 60s – is a must-have for pairing with heeled boots.

Coming up roses

Florals for spring… we know what you are thinking, but these are not ordinary flowers. This trend for spring 2024 is all about roses. Throughout the spring/summer season, endless designers were pushing the world’s most romantic stem, and as usual, Simone Rocha took it to the next level by including real roses in many of her dreamy, sheer gowns.

Whether you go as far as that is entirely up to you. However, if you are going for a floral-inspired look this spring, be sure to stick to the basics.

Metallics

Christmas and party season may be over, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to start packing your bags. With gold and silver set to dominate the color trends of 2024, these metals will be a great asset to you and your wardrobe for the coming months.

Of course, it’s best suited to the evening, but with the likes of Miu Miu and Rabanne creating the ultimate dressed-down look with smart layering, there’s no reason to miss out on this trend this spring.

Modern bride

While my time as a bridesmaid may be over, I will always have one eye on the bridal trends for spring 2024. After all, it is one of the most entertaining fashion moments of most of our lives. The trendiest silhouettes for 2024 are the ones with dropped waistlines, XXL hip pads, and oversized sleeves.

Short shorts

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the world of celebrity fashion over the past few weeks, you won’t be shocked by this latest trend. Micro shorts have taken the fashion world by storm since they first hit the runways, with celebs joining the street style bandwagon in testing them out.

Of course, they do require a certain amount of bravery – and, of course, warm weather. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, go for Alexander McQueen and wear yours with thigh-high boots for a bit more coverage.
